The Parent Engagement Liaison is employed to engage parents as active partners to increase student achievement and reaching school goals.  In collaboration with parents and staff, the Parent Engagement Liaison II will develop, organize, improve, and support parent/family engagement activities/events and coordinate the school-wide parent volunteer program.  She/he will serve as the outreach liaison between parents/families, school, and community.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Additional duties that support parent engagement may be assigned.

  • Plans, implements and evaluates trainings/workshops to help parents/families participate more effectively in improving their children’s learning.
  • Assists in coordination of all Title I and site-based parental involvement activities.
  • Serves as outreach liaison between school, families, community and District, that may include home visits.
  • Collaborates with teachers, coaches, interventionists, and other staff to provide parent/family education and training relevant to student learning and/or goals.
  • Has a working knowledge of school and district resources.
  • Confers effectively with appropriate school personnel, parents, and community agencies.
  • Prepares all materials for parent/family meetings and workshops including, but not limited to, flyers/agendas, transportation, childcare, and refreshments.
  • Attends district trainings and meetings to increase capacity to improve parent involvement.
  • Coordinates and facilitates parent volunteer program.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities.
  • Facilitates and/or leads parent meetings or activities.
  • Maintains records of work activity.
  • Confers with parents at meetings and at school to stimulate and increase parental involvement.
  • May be required to work some evenings.
  • Has reliable transportation and Arizona Driver’s license.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent of two (2) years’ college education, (60 credit hours at 100 level or above with a grade “C” or better) preferred.
  •  Parent involvement experience or coursework preferred but not required.



  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.
  • Respond to questions from administrators, staff and the general public.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence, create flyers and reports.
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, memos, and correspondence.



  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.



  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.  Prefer ability to read and write Spanish; also good oral communication skills in both languages.  Stipend may be given to employee if able to pass oral and/or written Spanish language test(s).
  • Basic computer skills– including experience with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Outlook, and Publisher.
  • Working knowledge of Title I programs and goals.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other employees, parents, and general public.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sometimes push or move up to 50 lbs., such as boxes, supplies, etc.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.  The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

This postion is 8 hours per day and 215 days per school year.

Salary placement= grade 4 (HS diploma only) $9.29 to $10.22

grade 8 (AA degree or min of 60 college credits) $11.71 to $12.91
