Our schools do more than simply partner with our community, because in Phoenix #1, we believe our schools belong to our community. A strong relationship between schools and community is critically important in reaching the goals of our 2025 Strategic Plan, so engaging and communicating with our diverse communities is among the most vital responsibilities for everyone in Phoenix #1. The Director of Marketing Communications leads and champions these efforts, comprehensively directing external and internal communications for the district. The Director plays a leadership role in decision-making processes, while owning all public relations in a variety of platforms. The leadership and clear communication the Director provides is the driving force of the relationship between Phoenix #1 and our diverse communities.


  • Serves as the Public Information Officer and Information Liaison between the District, our schools, and community at large
  • Plans, implements, manages and leads a comprehensive Marketing Plan that showcases the District and schools in a manner that leads to increased enrollment and satisfaction from families
  • Sets short-term and long-term objectives and plans, including budget planning, clear outcomes and demonstrable benchmarks
  • Represents Phoenix #1 with all media outlets
  • Develops and produces marketing and communications materials in print and digital forms in collaboration with departments and schools across the District
  • Cultivates partnerships with diverse segments of the community, including families, constituents, community organizations, and community leaders, in order to support the Vision, Mission and 2025 Strategic Plan of Phoenix #1
  • Attends all Governing Board meetings
  • Owns and manages District and school websites and social media platforms, including creating and publishing engaging content and driving online traffic towards websites
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


·      Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field

·      Experience working in Microsoft applications environment

·      Demonstrated experience in the field of marketing and communications


·      Advanced Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field

·      Five or more years of experience working in the community relations, communications, or marketing field

·      Two or more years of experience working in public education environments

·      Experience with WordPress

·      Biliterate and bilingual in English and Spanish


Knowledge of:

  • Professional practices and standards in the field of public relations and marketing
  • Effective engagement strategies with a diverse set of segments of the community

Skilled in:

  • Developing a variety of communiques using a wide array of communications tools and resources
  • Representing the Superintendent and District when needed to a diverse set of segments of the community

Ability to:

  • Create effective communication materials that meet the needs of the District, community, and our schools
  • Adapt to fast-changing environments and provide strong leadership in the areas of community engagement and communications
