GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Expanded Impact Teacher (EIT) plans and delivers in-person instruction for multiple classes in a school. He/she reaches at least 50% + more students than a typical classroom teacher. To achieve this goal, the EIT may utilize technology/and or paraprofessional support as determined by the site leadership. Students may rotate between a paraprofessional and the EIT. In this model, while one class of students works with a paraprofessional to cover basic knowledge and skills, the EIT teaches another class of students, focusing on delivering personalized and enriched instruction. In other models, the expanded impact teacher may utilize technology and blended learning methods to meet the needs of the larger caseload of students. In both cases, the teacher is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction, and monitoring student progress to determine instructional needs.  (S)he is also responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the paraprofessional’s instruction and making or recommending changes. The teacher collaborates with team members, such as other teachers, and other paraprofessionals, to review student progress and change instruction as needed to ensure high-progress, enriched learning for every child.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ability to perform at the proficient level or higher for all elements within the Learner Observation Instrument (LOI), including the Professional Responsibilities Rubric, with class sizes 30% or more above the District’s standard
  • Plan backward to align all lessons, activities, and assessments for multiple grade levels and/or content areas
  • Determine how students spend instructional time (e.g., with digital software for knowledge and skill acquisition, large and small groups with teacher, project-based learning, and individual interventions with other paraprofessionals (i.e. Reach Associate), etc.)
  • Design in-person instruction that is enriched (developing higher-order thinking skills) and personalized (reflecting learning levels and interests of individual students)
  • Design assessments that accurately assess student progress and/or incorporate digital assessments
  • Monitor and analyze student data from assessments to inform enriched instruction by teacher, follow-up tutoring by tutor(s) or assistant teacher(s), and changes in digital instruction
  • Provide Reach Associates and other paraprofessionals with student groupings and specific instructional assignments for follow-up tutoring

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate.
  • Expertise in subject matter being taught.
  • 3 or more years teaching experience with evidence of high-progress student outcomes in relevant subjects.
  • Technology proficiency and knowledge of digital learning
  • When applicable, demonstrated history of “effectiveness” includes:
  1. REIL Score of 370 or higher for 1 year or 700 for 2 years.
  2. VAM in one or more subjects of 0.26 or higher for 2 years
  3. K-3: CGA-G score equal to or greater than 4 for 2 years
  4. 4-8: CGA-G greater than 4 for 2 years
  • If candidate does not have access to above criteria then candidate should provide evidence of prior success in achieving significant student growth with any and all student populations for at least 3 years.

ANTICIPATED INTERVIEW PROCESS:

  • Screening process: candidate provides writing sample, evidence of effectiveness including but not limited to student achievement data, participates in a screening phone call, and letter of recommendation from a supervisor
  • Participate in a model lesson
  • Participate in a Behavior Event Interview
  • Participate in an interview with school principal
