Grade 111- Placement range: $19.30 to $22.98
JOB SUMMARY
Meeting our mission to inspire every child to achieve is dependent on the relationships between families, schools and the broader community. The Family Center Technician will help to connect families with resources, services, and community referrals. In collaboration with families, staff, and community members, the Family Center Technician supports the Family Engagement and Education Coordinator in organizing, scheduling, and facilitating family engagement activities. A champion of equity and academic excellence, the Family Center Technician also serves as a liaison between schools, families and the community with a focus on marketing the school, encouraging enrollment and retention, and raising the academic achievement of all Phoenix #1 students. This is an exciting opportunity to take part in community building, as the Phoenix #1 Family Center continues to develop across its phased, multi-year timeline.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Family Engagement and Education Coordinator to plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate Family Center. programming, such as adult education classes, volunteering, and family workshops.
- Serves as outreach liaison between school and district personnel, families, and community agencies.
- Ensures that Family Center services are equitable, culturally responsive, and adaptive.
- Collaborates with district-wide staff to support families with the enrollment process.
- Collaborates with district-wide staff, providing families with opportunities to share their ideas and to make decisions about school policies and programming.
- Completes opening and closing procedures for daily operation.
- Creates a sense of welcome by greeting families and offering prompt, friendly service.
- Refers families to partner organizations and site-based engagement teams.
- Assists in recruiting and coordinating parent volunteers.
- Collects and compiles data (e.g., sign-in sheets, family surveys).
- Monitors and supports public use of Family Center computers.
- Stocks, organizes, and distributes supplies, as well as programming materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: · High School diploma or equivalent · Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card | PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: · Bilingual (Fluent in Spanish and English) · Associates or Bachelor’s degree · Two or more years of experience in facilitating family and community engagement |
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- School and district resources, policies, and procedures
- Community resources and referral processes
- Best practices in stimulating and increasing parental and familial involvement in schools
Skilled in:
- Task management and record-keeping
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Presenting information to diverse groups in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Representing and serving as a good steward of the school community in a manner that encourages enrollment and participation.
Ability to:
- Be inclusive and respectful of all types of family composition and gender, racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with parents, schools, community and district office staff.
- Collaborate on a team to coordinate community and social services to meet the needs of families and their students.
- Facilitate and lead family meetings or activities.
- At times, work evenings and weekends for activities or events hosted by the Family Center.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud and can vary in temperature. The nature of this position is fast-paced and may occasionally be thought of as stressful. Through interaction with the public and other district employees, the employee may encounter different scents.

This position is a Grade 11 on the Support Staff Salary Schedule. Salary placement is $16.28 to $17.94, depending on experience. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
