SALARY PLACEMENT= $17.24 TO $18.72 per hour, depending on experience.

The PEER Lead plays a critical role in a school’s mission to support student success, ensuring an equitable distribution of resources, and ensuring equitable outcomes for all by providing the day-to-day supervision of the District’s PEER Program for children at schools. The position requires the ability to work flexible hours and serve in a cooperative capacity with the Principals at schools, the Before and After School Program Coordinator and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the PEER program during the school year at a site-based level.
  • Assist the Intersession PEER Lead during breaks as assigned to help facilitate our extended year program.
  • Provides support to school programs and arranges for substitutes at sites as needed.
  • Assists in the hiring process for PEER support staff members and other program employees by making recommendations for employment or conducting interviews as directed by the Before and After School Program Coordinator or the school Principal.
  • Assists in the yearly evaluation of PEER Staff.
  • Oversees the site meal ordering, disbursement, and all documentation for the nutritional program for PEER Club and the After School Athletic program.
  • Implements recreational activities and other enrichment programs to stimulate the growth of children at each school site.
  • Facilitates and/or conducts in-services and staff development activities and trainings for program employees.
  • Obtains and recommends the appropriate furniture, supplies, and materials to operate the program at each school site.
  • Prepares and provides parent information packets explaining the program rules, expectations and other pertinent information as it relates to the PEER program and works collaboratively with school district administrators to resolve concerns.
  • Assists with record-keeping for the program and recommends budgets and program operational activities.
  • Assists with licensing school facilities in accordance with state licensing procedures and ensures the program maintains compliance standards throughout the duration of the school year and breaks.
  • Provides support to program staff by creating templates and producing documents that allow the daily operation to be successful and efficient.
  • Assists with program enrollment including the collection of required documentation for every participant per licensing requirements.
  • Manages staff personnel files in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Office of Childcare Licensing.
  • Provide staff work schedules and the programming of daily activity schedules for all employees to follow.
  • Responds to emergencies or significant site problems as necessary.
  • Manages employee time records.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

·         High School diploma or GED.

·         Proven ability to work effectively with children, staff and families in a supervisory capacity.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

·         60 semester hours of study, Associate’s Degree or Bachelors Degree

·         Bilingual (Spanish/English).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Best practices in program and personnel management, particularly in a school or after-school recreational setting.
  • Arizona childcare rules and licensing regulation guidelines

Skilled in:

  • Building relationships with students, families, and PEER staff.
  • Providing high-quality programming in an after-school setting.
  • Microsoft Applications systems.

Ability to:

  • Provide leadership over after-school program at schools.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and PEER staff.
  • Produce reports as needed.
  • Be self-directed and work without direct supervision.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud and can vary in temperature. The nature of this position is fast-paced and may occasionally be thought of as stressful. Through interaction with the public and other district employees, the employee may encounter different scents.
