General Statement of Responsibilities & Duties

The Instructional Enrichment and Intervention Specialist assists the Principal in the performance of various leadership responsibilities which are necessary to the successful operation of the school.  Responsibilities can include, but not limited to, implementation of the Strategic Plan and Signature School Instructional Plan, parental involvement including recruitment and enrollment of students, instructional improvement, implementation of academic standards, analysis of student achievement data, administration of district and state assessments, and monitoring ELL requirements.

Supervision Received

The Instructional Enrichment and Intervention Specialist reports to the Principal, with additional support provided from Central Office administrators.

Supervision Administered

The Instructional Enrichment and Intervention Specialist is responsible for the direct supervision of any employee upon delegation of this responsibility by the Principal, specifically Support Staff. 

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum education and /or experience:

  • Arizona Teaching Certificate, Principal Certificate Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience as a classroom teacher in grades PreK-8, (preferred)
  • Extensive experience in instructional practice, curriculum and educational research
  • Knowledge of English Language Acquisition
  • Knowledge and experience in the administration of district and state assessments
  • Experience mentoring and coaching teachers
  • Strong background in conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Ability to communicate well and to apply leadership skills within a shared decision-making model

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:        Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in supervision and coordination of various school programs and activities, including student recruitment and enrollment
  • Responsibility for the safety, conduct, and general welfare of students
  • Share responsibility with Principal for coordinating and/or facilitating parent education opportunities at the school site
  • Assists in the development and dissemination of school newsletters, bulletins, or other communication formats
  • Ability to develop and implement consistent, student-centered positive behavior instructional support opportunities at the site
  • Knowledge of and ability to support the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) program at the site and Positive Behavior Support Systems (PBIS)
  • Monitor and implement the English Language (EL) program at the site, including required paperwork & program documentation
  • Responsible for the administration of district and state assessments
  • Share responsibility with Principal for monitoring the accuracy and integrity of data in the student management system
  • Complete informal classroom observation walk-throughs
  • Facilitate grade level Professional Learning Communities
  • Facilitate the process of high school registration at the school site
  • Supervise and evaluate support staff, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to establish positive professional relationships with Principals, teachers, support staff, parents and community members
  • Knowledge of best practices related to teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Knowledge of the Phoenix Elementary School District #1 teacher evaluation instrument
  • Knowledge of professional learning standards Knowledge of Arizona Academic Standards
  • Knowledge of assessment types and purposes including formative and summative student assessment
  • Knowledge of MTSS and PBIS for students
  • Advanced training or three to five years experience using Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Experience with software applications, including management software tools and data analysis
