GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Multi-Classroom Leader II (MCL II) leads a team of five to six teachers and other staff responsible for multiple classrooms to meet the state’s College and Career Readiness standards. At the K-8 level, the MCL and team are responsible for multiple classrooms. The MCL establishes the roles and goals of each team member, determines how students spend time, and organizes teaching roles to fit the strengths of each teacher, content knowledge and professional development goals. The MCL will directly teach but is assigned a teaching load that enables the MCL to perform the team leadership function well. The MCL organizes the team to review student progress and changes instruction to ensure high-progress learning for every child. The MCL guides the team in using proven methods, as well as selecting new ideas and innovations that will improve learning. The MCL is fully accountable for the learning and development of all students taught by the team members. The MCL provides feedback to the principal in choosing and developing the team.
Planning and Preparation:
- Establish high expectations of achievement that are ambitious and measurable for all students taught by team.
- Establish methods and create instructional tools and materials that team teacher uses in all classrooms.
- Establish direction, verbally and with tools and materials, that clarify content and teaching process.
- Lead team to: plan backward to align all lessons, activities and assessments; design instruction that is aligned to the Learner Observation Instrument (LOI) and that is enriched (developing higher order thinking skills) and personalized (reflecting learning levels and interests of individual students); design assessments that accurately assess student progress.
- Determine how students spend instructional time based on instructional skills and content knowledge of teachers and Reach Associates in team.
- Lead team to:
- Create physical classroom environments and hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement that are ambitious and measurable and consistent with the elements within the Learner Observation Instrument’s (LOI) Learning Community and Learner Engagement rubrics.
- Lead team to:
- Perform at proficient levels or higher on all elements of the Learner Observation Instrument (LOI)
- Increase performance on District and school Innovation Configuration (IC) Maps as measured by CBAM’s Levels of Use and Stages of Concern
- Incorporate small-group and individual instruction to personalize and tailor instruction to individual needs.
- Monitor and analyze student assessment data to inform enriched instruction by teacher.
- Ability to perform at the highest level of the Professional Responsibilities Rubric (PRR)
- Lead team to high levels of performance on the Professional Responsibilities Rubric (PRR).
- Model instructional tasks to aid team development.
- Clarify and adjust team members’ roles and provide feedback, developmental advice and assignments to develop their effectiveness.
- Collaborate with principal regarding team members for potential roles changes and for increasing job opportunities for team teachers who are ready to advance (to new or more complex roles).
- Collaborate with district personnel regarding district goals and initiatives.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, including a 3-day summer institute and monthly MCL sessions which may occur outside of regular contract hours
- Master’s degree in education or related field preferred.
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate.
- 3 or more years teaching experience.
- Experience successfully leading and managing a team of adults to accomplish goals.
- When applicable, demonstrated history of “effectiveness” includes:
- REIL Score of 370 or higher for 1 year or 700 for 2 years.
- VAM in one or more subjects of 0.26 or higher for 2 years
- K-3: CGA-G score equal to or greater than 4 for 2 years
- 4-8: CGA-G greater than 4 for 2 years
ANTICIPATED INTERVIEW PROCESS:
- Screening process: candidate provides writing sample, evidence of “effectiveness” including but not limited to student achievement data, participate in a screening phone call, letters of recommendation from current colleague and supervisor
- Participate in a simulated Collaborative Team Meeting, Instructional Conference, and/or Leadership Team Meeting
- Participate in a Behavior Event Interview
- Participate in an interview with school principal
Provide input to Principal regarding performance of Expanded Impact Teacher and/or Reach Associate
